Thorn is a riveting retelling of the classic tale ‘The Goose Girl’ and Intisar Khanani tells the tale in compelling prose that will suck you right in This edition is completely unique and we will be doing matching editions for the spin-off books set in the same world: The Theft of Sunlight and A Darkness at the Door. The beginning was a little slow but it’s clear that the author puts a lot of effort into the setting. Given that this was the author’s first publication, it was really well done the structure and language fit nicely into the fairytale narrative and still has an original spin to it. This is an extended version of a fairytale you never knew you needed. But threats to the prince, along with corrupt secrets, remain in the palace, so she has to choose: will she stay a humble peasant or become the princess who uses her voice to save her people? On the way there, a powerful sorceress seeking revenge takes her identity away and she is given an opportunity to live a new life as a goose girl. But that all changes when the powerful kingdom of a faraway land suddenly seeks her hand in marriage. ![]() ![]() Princess Alyrra has never felt comfortable or competent enough for court life, much to the disappointment of her family rather, she always sought the comfort of her friends at the stables, helping the kitchen maids, and enjoying the simple life in her tiny kingdom. ![]()
